Successful launch of the EDF project FEDERATES at Rheinmetall Duesseldorf, Germany
The kick-off meeting for the ambitious European Defence Fund (EDF) project FEDERATES was held at the facilities of Rheinmetall in Duesseldorf. The project, officially titled "FEDERATED ECOSYSTEM OF EUROPEAN SIMULATION ASSETS FOR TRAINING & DECISION SUPPORT," aims to create a unified ecosystem of European simulation resources for training purposes and decision support.
The consortium behind FEDERATES comprises 32 participants from 15 different nations of the European Union (EU) and Norway, highlighting the significance and scope of this initiative. The kick-off meeting marked the official commencement of collaboration within this highly skilled, diverse and interdisciplinary team.
Organized by RME, the event in Duesseldorf provided a platform for face-to-face encounters and exchanges among project partners. Despite the challenges associated with organizing such a large-scale meeting, RME succeeded in creating an atmosphere supporting the productive discussions among the participants.
In addition to the numerous participants who were present in-person, some project members took advantage of the opportunity to participate via online teleconference. This also allowed representatives from the European Commission (EC), who support and accompany the project, to participate and contribute to the meeting.
The FEDERATES project emphasises the European Union’s and its member states' commitment to enhancing defence capabilities through innovative approaches and the use of cutting-edge technologies. By creating a common ecosystem of simulation resources, the project will not only improve training and decision-making processes within the European defence community but also contribute to strengthening cooperation and interoperability among member states.
The successful kick-off meeting in Duesseldorf is a promising start for the FEDERATES project. With the support of the European Commission and the expertise of the consortium members, the project is well-positioned to achieve its ambitious goals and make a valuable contribution to Europe's security and defence.
